Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about LinkaQR.

Is LinkaQR really free?
Yes, completely free, no fine print. You can generate as many QR codes as you need, with no limit on quantity or scans, and we never ask for a credit card. There's no "trial plan" that gets cut off later: QR generation will keep being free permanently. The service is sustained through non-intrusive advertising and a small branding band on free-plan codes, not by charging users.
Do I need to register?
No, you can generate and download your QR code without creating any account or giving your email. Registration is entirely optional and will only make sense if, later on, you want to keep a history of your codes in the cloud to access them from another device or edit them after creating them. For regular use — a one-off QR for a poster, a business card or an event — you don't need an account.
What types of QR codes can I create?
We currently offer 4 types, built for the most common use cases: • URL: redirects to any website, useful for digital menus, portfolios or social media. • WhatsApp: opens a conversation with your number directly, without the other person having to save you as a contact first. • WiFi: shares your network password so guests can connect just by scanning, with nothing to type. • Text: stores a short note or message that shows up on scan, with no internet connection needed.
Do QR codes have an expiration date?
No. A QR code generated with LinkaQR keeps working indefinitely, no matter how much time passes. This is different from some "free" generators that actually offer temporary dynamic codes and later ask you to pay to keep the code working — with LinkaQR, what you generate today is yours forever.
Can I customize the design?
Yes. You can choose custom colors for the background and dots, add your own logo in the center, adjust the error correction level (useful if you're printing the QR small or on a textured surface), and pick from different dot styles (square, rounded, dots). The preview updates instantly as you adjust each option.
In what formats can I download?
You can download as PNG, ideal for sharing on social media, WhatsApp or using directly on a website, and as SVG, a vector format that doesn't lose quality when scaled — the recommended choice if you're printing the QR at a large size, like a poster or a banner.
Do the codes have watermarks?
Free-plan codes include a small text band with "linkaqr.app" below the QR itself — it's not overlaid on the code, so it never affects its ability to be scanned. It's how we keep the service free without charging users or filling the page with intrusive ads.
Can I use QR codes for commercial purposes?
Yes, without restrictions. You can use them in your business, in printed materials you sell, in client presentations, or in any commercial product. There's no separate license for commercial vs. personal use — it's the same QR, with the same usage rights, no permission needed and no credit to LinkaQR required.
Is my data safe?
When the QR type allows it (for example, text or WiFi), generation happens entirely in your browser — the information never reaches our servers. For types that do require a target URL, we don't sell or share that information with third parties for marketing purposes. You can see the full details in our Privacy Policy.
Do they work with any QR reader?
Yes. Our codes follow the standard QR Code format, the same one used by any modern phone camera or scanning app — it's not a proprietary format. You can scan them with the native camera on iPhone or Android without installing any extra app.
Does LinkaQR have ads or advertising?
The website (LinkaQR.app) may show non-intrusive advertising while you browse, and that's how we sustain the free service. It's important to distinguish this from the QR codes you generate: those never contain ads, hidden tracking, or intermediate redirects — they go directly to what you configured, with the only exception being the small branding band already mentioned on the free plan.
Can I 3D print my QR code?
Yes. After generating your QR, you can open the 3D viewer and download an STL file ready to print on any home 3D printer, in 3 different formats: a desk stand (for a counter or front desk), a badge with a hole for a lanyard (great for trade shows and events), or a keychain (perfect as a promotional giveaway). The QR sits in relief on the piece, so it scans the same way a paper-printed one would — no need to paint or fill anything in after printing.
